QUICK SAFETY GUIDE
PLEASE READ BEFORE USE
⚠️ Always supervise your dog while using Fido Fence™.
⚠️ Inspect the entire enclosure before every use. Do not use if any component is damaged.
⚠️ Ensure every fence panel is fully seated into the support poles before allowing your pet inside.
⚠️ Install all supplied ground pegs and use guy ropes whenever additional stability is required.
⚠️ Always ensure the retractable fence is fully locked before releasing it. Never let go while it is unlocked.
⚠️ Always close and latch the gate immediately after entering or leaving the enclosure.
⚠️ Keep the enclosure well away from campfires, BBQs, heaters, naked flames, sparks and hot embers.
⚠️ Do not rely on Fido Fence™ to prevent access to roads, waterways, cliffs or other hazards.
⚠️ Fido Fence™ helps contain your dog, but it does not prevent wildlife, other dogs or people from entering the enclosure.
⚠️ If conditions become unsafe—including strong winds, unstable ground, nearby hazards or damaged components—remove your pet and discontinue use until it is safe to continue.
IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE
Fido Fence™ is designed to assist in the temporary containment of domestic dogs when correctly assembled, anchored and used under appropriate supervision.
No portable enclosure can guarantee containment under all circumstances. Every dog differs in size, strength, behaviour, training and temperament. Owners are responsible for determining whether Fido Fence™ is suitable for their individual pet and the environment in which it is being used.
Fido Fence™ is designed to help contain your dog. It is not designed to prevent other animals, wildlife or people from entering the enclosure.
Owners remain responsible for the supervision, care and control of their pets at all times.
BEFORE EACH USE
Before every use:
• Inspect all fence panels, support poles, connectors, gate components, latches, retractable fence, pegs and guy ropes.
• Ensure every fence panel is fully seated into its support pole.
• Confirm all locking mechanisms operate correctly.
• Confirm the retractable fence locking mechanism fully engages.
• Ensure all pegs are secure.
• Check guy ropes remain correctly tensioned where fitted.
• Ensure the gate opens, closes and latches correctly.
• Inspect for cracked, bent, worn, loose or damaged components.
• Do not use the enclosure if any component is damaged or missing.
GENERAL SAFETY
• Read and retain this manual.
• This product is intended for temporary portable use only.
• This product is not intended as permanent fencing.
• Always supervise pets while using the enclosure.
• Never rely solely on the enclosure to prevent escape.
• Provide clean drinking water and adequate shade at all times.
• Do not modify, weld, drill or alter any component.
• Use only genuine or approved replacement parts.
• Stop using the enclosure immediately if damage occurs.
PET SUITABILITY
Owners should assess whether the enclosure is suitable for their individual dog.
Factors to consider include:
• Size
• Weight
• Strength
• Age
• Behaviour
• Temperament
• Training
• Previous escape history
Fido Fence™ may not be suitable for:
• aggressive dogs
• destructive dogs
• dogs capable of climbing the enclosure
• dogs capable of jumping over the enclosure
• dogs that regularly dig beneath fences
• dogs known to escape portable enclosures
ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION
• Assemble only on firm, level and stable ground.
• Avoid unstable, loose, muddy or uneven ground wherever possible.
• Ensure every panel is fully seated into each support pole.
• Engage every locking mechanism.
• Install all supplied ground pegs wherever ground conditions permit.
• Peg all designated panel anchoring points where practical.
• Use guy ropes whenever additional stability is required.
• Check all connections after assembly.
• Ensure the gate is fully latched before allowing your pet into the enclosure.
• Never leave a partially assembled enclosure unattended.
GUY ROPES & ANCHORING
For increased stability:
• Use only Fido Fence™ supplied or approved guy ropes.
• Guy ropes must only be attached to the designated attachment points on Fido Fence™ support poles.
• Ensure all guy ropes are correctly tensioned.
• Inspect guy ropes regularly during use.
• Check pegs regularly as ground conditions may change throughout the day.
• Re-secure all anchoring after rain, soft ground, strong winds or accidental impacts.
• Guy ropes and pegs may create trip hazards.
Exercise additional caution in low light conditions.
RETRACTABLE FENCE SAFETY
WARNING – SPRING-LOADED RETRACTABLE FENCE
The retractable fence contains a spring-loaded mechanism capable of retracting rapidly if released while unlocked.
To reduce the risk of injury or property damage:
• Always ensure the retractable fence is fully locked before releasing it.
• Never release the retractable fence while it is unlocked.
• Maintain a firm grip whenever extending or retracting the fence.
• Retract the fence slowly and under control.
• Keep hands, fingers, face and body clear of the retracting mechanism.
• Keep children and pets away while operating the retractable fence.
• Inspect the locking mechanism before every use.
• Do not use the retractable fence if the locking mechanism does not engage securely.
• Do not use damaged retractable fence components.
GATE SAFETY
• Always close and latch the gate immediately after entering or leaving the enclosure.
• Never leave the gate open while a pet is inside.
• Before opening the gate, ensure your pet is under control.
• Inspect the gate latch after any significant impact.
SURROUNDING HAZARDS
Fido Fence™ helps contain your dog. It does not prevent hazards from entering the enclosure.
Remain aware of your surroundings at all times.
Potential hazards include:
• other dogs
• wildlife
• livestock
• snakes
• insects
• moving vehicles
• cyclists
• pedestrians
• campers
• rivers
• lakes
• beaches
• swimming pools
• cliffs
• steep embankments
• falling branches
• severe weather
If surrounding conditions become unsafe, relocate the enclosure or remove your pet immediately.
WIND & WEATHER
• Strong winds may reduce enclosure stability.
• Always use available anchoring points and guy ropes whenever conditions require.
• Remove the enclosure during severe weather.
• Check enclosure stability regularly.
• Environmental conditions may change throughout the day.
• Rain, heat and softening ground may reduce anchoring effectiveness.
• Re-check all pegs, guy ropes and anchors regularly.
If stability cannot be maintained, relocate the enclosure.
FIRE & HEAT SAFETY
WARNING – FIRE HAZARD
Keep all enclosure components away from:
• campfires
• BBQs
• fire pits
• heaters
• naked flames
• sparks
• hot embers
• radiant heat
Never use the enclosure to surround or isolate a fire.
If sparks or embers begin landing on or near the enclosure, relocate it immediately.
Components exposed to prolonged direct sunlight may become hot. Exercise care when handling and allow components to cool if necessary.
Inspect the enclosure after any exposure to heat.
Discontinue use if any component has melted, warped, burned or shows signs of heat damage.
CHILD SAFETY
• This is not a children's play enclosure.
• Do not allow children to climb, sit or swing on the enclosure.
• Children should not assemble or disassemble the enclosure.
• Children should always be supervised around the product.
TRIP HAZARDS
Fence panels, poles, pegs, guy ropes and accessories may create trip hazards.
• Exercise caution when walking around the enclosure.
• Use additional lighting where practical in low-light conditions.
• Position the enclosure away from walkways wherever possible.
• Keep emergency exits and vehicle access clear.
PINCH POINTS
• Keep fingers clear of hinges, latches and moving components.
• Ensure collars, leads and harnesses cannot become caught.
• Never tether an animal to any fence panel or support pole.
TRANSPORT
• Secure all components during transport.
• Prevent loose components from moving during transport.
• Keep components out of reach of children.
STORAGE
• Clean after every use.
• Remove mud, dirt, salt and debris.
• Store in a clean, dry location.
• Store away from heat sources and naked flames.
• Inspect components before storage.
MAINTENANCE
Inspect regularly for:
• damaged panels
• bent poles
• worn connectors
• damaged hinges
• damaged latches
• retractable fence operation
• locking mechanisms
• guy ropes
• pegs
• anchoring points
• corrosion
• loose fasteners
Inspect the enclosure immediately after:
• attempted escapes
• accidental impacts
• strong winds
• the enclosure being knocked over
Replace damaged components immediately.
PROHIBITED USES
Do not:
• use as permanent fencing
• use to contain livestock
• tether animals to the enclosure
• attach guy ropes anywhere except designated attachment points
• use non-approved accessories
• climb, stand or sit on the enclosure
• lean heavy objects against the enclosure
• modify any component
• operate damaged equipment
• use damaged retractable fence components
• use near campfires or naked flames
PRODUCT LIMITATIONS
Fido Fence™ is designed to assist in the temporary containment of domestic dogs.
Containment may be affected by:
• behaviour
• strength
• climbing
• jumping
• digging
• incorrect assembly
• inadequate anchoring
• unsuitable terrain
• weather
• damaged components
• misuse
Owners should continuously assess whether the enclosure remains suitable and safe throughout use.
LIABILITY INFORMATION
Fido Fence™ is designed to assist in temporarily containing domestic dogs when correctly assembled, anchored and supervised.
Owners remain responsible for the behaviour and control of their pets at all times.
No portable enclosure can guarantee prevention of escape or prevent animals, wildlife or people from entering the enclosure.
Nothing in this manual excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law.
